Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Mousse Make-up, Bargain price!

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish, shade: Sparkling  Blush 001
TK Maxx, £8, RRP £23-28

I went for an impromptu shopping spree this week, and couldn't believe my luck when I came across this in TK Maxx for the bargain price of £8! The bottle is beautiful, it just screams 'quality makeup!' It's so lightweight that I was worried there wouldn't be much foundation inside, but when you squeeze the pump, the  mouse expands and bubbles...
It feels a bit weird, I'll admit, but it makes it last a whole lot longer than your average foundation. It smells flowery and a bit like talcum powder which personally, I like, but I can imagine it would put a lot of younger people off.
The mousse is silky smooth to touch and doesn't feel heavy on your skin - it's actually very light and gives a translucent coverage, which you can build up to give a full coverage. I like this foundation because it doesn't clog the pours or cause break outs, (especially on MY skin which is very prone to break-outs!) and it doesn't dry out the skin. It's just very natural and perfect for hot summery days - I can guarantee it wont slide when you sweat!

left hand - with foundation
right hand - without.
You can see in these pictures just how smooth the coverage is - the red and purple veins in my left hand were easily covered with one pump of the mousse and my skin tone just looks so much more even than my right hand.

A lot of people could be put off by the RRP price - especially broke students like myself - but after a few uses of this, I cannot go back to your run off the mill drug-store foundations - the difference in quality is amazing. So, if you are considering a splurge this week, I'd give this a go.

Oh, and here's a few other bits I bought this week, I won't go into much detail, I can imagine I'll be blogging about these very soon...
coral skirt - TK Maxx, £10
sleeveless shirt - Republic vintage, £22
Aloe Vera Vaseline - Primark, £1.20
Studded boots - Primark,  £20
White canvas flatforms - Dorothy Perkins, £20

Rimmel Coral Lipstick & Lash Accelerator Mascara

Rimmel Lasting colour Lipstick, Shade: Coral in Gold. £4.98
Rimmel Lash accelerator Endless, Shade: 001 Black.  £8.98

I bought these Rimmel goodies spur of the moment to replace products I knew I was running low on. The lipstick is beautiful, it smells gorgeous and fruity and applies softly - you can tell it's full of moisture and wont damage your lips. Also, it doesn't leave that vile stain when you remove it. The shade is a brave for me - I usually stick to the classic red lips, but I really like this colour - it's very summer and is definitely brightening up these cold winter days for me!

I really like the shine to this lipstick, it's almost glittery - but not in the '7-year-old girl lipgloss' way. It's very chic and sophisticated.
If I had to criticise this lipstick, I would say it doesn't live up to it's name of 'lasting colour' as well as I'd like. Although it doesn't rub off on glasses, cutlery, etc. it fades after 4 or 5 hours with literally no remnants of any lipstick left. So, just remember to keep topping up! Also, if you're very pale, I'd say this would be a colour to avoid - it has the potential to make you look ill and drawn out if applied against the wrong skin tone.Overall, I'd give it an 8/10 and would definitely recommend you try it out.

Although I loved the design of this, I was a bit sceptical about the Lash Accelerator when I saw the brush - it seemed flimsy and like it wouldn't be able to supply the full and thick lashes I like to have. I was pleasantly surprised.
Although thin and little, it separates the lashes beautifully and extends them all separately, pretty much guaranteed lump-free lashes!

The mascara is dark and an even consistency, it doesn't flake off and cover your under eyes with the dreaded black flecks, and it doesn't rub off against your lids. Also, the lasting power is amazing. Your lashes look full and long all day/night with no need to top up and no eyelash drooping, fairly waterproof, yet can still be removed pretty efficiently. I love this mascara, it'll be staying in my make-up bag for the foreseeable future! 9/10.

First Dip in the Water...

I've deliberated, I've dawdled, I've stared blankly at the screen and I've made excuses - 'It won't be any good!', 'I don't know what to write about!', 'I can't, I have to feed the cat!' - but today is the day.

I'm taking the plunge and finally starting my own blog.

'The Fashion Wallflower' might seem like an odd name for a fashion blog, after all fashion is about expressing yourself and standing out from the crowd, but it perfectly sums me up. I love clothes, beauty and fashion, but I'm - gulp - afraid of looking silly! You know those girls, we've all seen them, who take so many fashion risks and push the boundaries so far that you can't quite work out of they're supposed to be wearing a t-shirt as a skirt or a lampshade as a hat, and I do not want that to be me. So, instead, I play it safe. And I want that to change. So this blog is going to be me diving head first into beauty and fashion, pushing my own fashion boundaries as far as I can and putting myself completely on show in this blog. So at least if I do make a fool of myself, I'll at least give you lovely readers a laugh! Wish me luck...

That's it for now, just a short post, but what matters is that I've done it... I've written my first blog post! If you're still reading my drivel, thank you very much for the patience and please feel free to leave any comments and suggestions - I'm going to need all the help I can get!
